CNN’s “State of the Union” & “Reliable Sources”
From January through April 2011, I interned with CNN’s Sunday morning news shows, “State of the Union” and “Reliable Sources.” This experience helped me get a better grasp of what different people do in their specific roles in putting together a show.
I had the opportunity to learn editing techniques, such as Final Cut Pro, for video and image content on the show and getting a better understanding of which jobs I may particularly enjoy doing on a broadcast show. We provided research assistance on current news topics and in-depth information for on-going topics that were being covered.
NBC’s “Meet the Press”
Spring semester 2010 I interned with NBC’s Sunday morning news show, “Meet the Press.” This experience helped me understand what it takes to be involved in the news and how so much of the background work gets accomplished.
Some of our responsibilities included news research, fact-checking, escorting guests on Sunday mornings and helping with video footage and compiling research packets.
It was a challenging and exciting experience which helped to enhance my education and grow in my professional experience.
“If it’s Sunday, it’s Meet the Press.”
